How he got started
When Brad Bowser got into metal building construction, he needed a supplier.
He’d heard other contractors’ stories about metal suppliers in his area, both good and bad, and Kauffman Metals was one of the suppliers with a good reputation. They were also conveniently located, so he decided to give them a try.
That was four years ago, and Brad doesn’t need to go anywhere else.
What keeps him coming back
First, the products. Brad takes full advantage of Kauffman’s building packages: metal panels and trim, windows, doors, fasteners, and lumber. Brad sits down with Kauffman’s in-house engineer and together they figure out a materials list. He appreciates the convenience of having everything he needs delivered to the job site on a trailer.
On the multi-bay garage he built for Everett Borough (see above), Brad used a Kauffman Metal building package, including:
- Ivory G-Rib metal siding
- Dark Red G-Rib metal roofing
- Dark Red trim
- 36’ Gable and regular trusses
- Fasteners, lumber, vapor barrier, doors
But building packages don’t have much extra to account for mistakes on the job. That’s where Kauffman’s stocked items come in handy. “If you have a whoops,” Brad says, “you can generally walk in and get replacement trim same-day.”
Brad also says he’s been pleased with the consistent quality, in both thickness and color, of Kauffman’s metal. “I’ve never had a color match issue.”
But what Brad highlights most is the responsive, easy-to-work-with team. He appreciates that when he calls or emails Kauffman, someone returns his call within a day or two. When an issue came up on a recent project — a design miscalculation that left Brad with extra material to cut — Kauffman worked with him to find a fair solution that kept the project on track.
“I’ve had good service with everyone I’ve interacted with,” he says.
